To create a Portrait photograph is to make a connection with another human being's mortality, vulnerability, and impermanence. Precisely by isolating and freezing the moment, the photograph bears witness to the inexorable passage of time.
I try to photograph my own life experience. For me, the point is not how "attractive" the subject is, but how it is revealed by the light. A photograph should not be a representation of the subject but evoke an emotional reaction in the viewer. Photography is about showing time.
A photograph is the only thing left behind when we are gone.
